The Koç University – Arçelik Research Center for Creative Industries is looking for PhD and MA candidates for its Koç University – Arçelik Young Design Researchers Scholarship; a program focused on research and product development that encompasses various topics relevant to the creative industries.

Accepted candidates will find opportunities to work on innovative ideas, develop prototypes and disseminate their research in a world-class lab environment.

During the course of the program, successful students will also come into contact with outstanding companies and research labs operating in the creative industries.

We are looking for candidates that fulfill the following requirements:

  • A university degree in design, engineering or a related field
  • ALES EA min. 70
  • GRE min. 685/154
  • TOEFL min. 80 or IELTS min. 6.5

June 1, 2015 is the last day for pre-application form submissions and appointments with faculty members. July 17, 2015 is the on-line submission deadline for all of the application documents.

The Koç University – Arçelik Research Center for Creative Industries (KUAR), founded jointly by Koç University and Arçelik A.Ş. (see www.arcelikas.com) in January 2015, aims to add value, via research, that increases the efficiency and international competitiveness of Turkish creative industries. A wide range of topics such as lifestyle, entertainment (game, performance, movies, drama, animation), cultural heritage (exhibitions, heritage, analysis), info-assistance, transportation, education, healthcare lie within the scope of research conducted at KUAR, where research and development on conceptual/experimental/visionary prototypes, working prototypes, re-design prototypes of products, design guidelines is undertaken. KUAR’s 1000m2 complex workspace is located within Koç University’s main campus in Sarıyer. Facilities that include workshops for fabricating electronics and mechanical components, IT resources, studios and equipment for audio/visual productions, user experience laboratories and exhibition spaces are available for use by KUAR researchers and staff.
